The Fault in Our Stars Summary
The story begins with a 16-year-old girl named Hazel Grace Lancaster who is severally suffering from Thyroid Cancer that gradually spread to her lungs.
Hazel needs to carry an oxygen tank with her wherever she goes so she can breathe properly. She is forced by his mother to attend a Cancer Kid Support Group, and somehow Hazel agreed to her mother’s behest.
During her stay, Hazel’s eye stopped on a 17-year-old boy Augustus Waters, and she is immediately attracted to him through the course of the meeting.
Augustus Waters was once a rising basketball player but due to bone cancer he lost a leg, Augustus is there to support their mutual friend named Isaac.
After their meeting, Augustus and hazel become friends, and Augustus invites Hazel to his house to watch the movie together. At her visit to his house, Hazel shares her story about Thyroid Cancer whereas Augustus revealed his struggle with osteosarcoma, but he is cancer free now after having his leg amputated.
Their relationship gradually formed and developed when they had a trip to Amsterdam, a trip which is funded by Genie Foundation. Augustus has organized a meeting with Hazel’s favorite author Peter Van Houten.
During their trip to Amsterdam, both some good and terrible moments between Augustus and Hazel have experienced, Hazel impulsively kisses Augustus and falls in love with him.
Everything will not be going to settle smoothly as on the last day of their trip, Augustus confesses that his Cancer has returned and spread throughout his body, the report comes out after his body scan but he didn’t tell Hazel earlier not to ruin her trip.
Augustus is now suffering from an extremely severe condition and going through a pain that can’t be cured, after struggling for a month, he dies in the Hospital.
This incident doesn’t make Hazel weak but gives strength to her, she realizes the pain of losing someone to cancer who you love the most, their relationship will not last long but is limitless with the depth of feelings.
Will they both die in the end, or a miracle may save Hazel’s life?
